Homicide detectives have swarmed a Victorian street after a woman's body was discovered in a nearby waste facility.
Staff made the grim discovery when moving green waste at the facility in Epping on Cooper Street on Wednesday.
It took police three days to work out who she was and where she came from, today making their way inside a property in Coolaroo, looking for more answers.
Detectives used a locksmith to access the Hilgay street home today and spent over 10 hours combing through it and the bins in the backyard.
Officers spent Saturday on the streets, talking to residents and obtaining CCTV footage to try to work out what has happened.
9News understands investigators have taken clips of dashcam and CCTV footage from at least two separate properties.
The home remains an active crime scene, with forensic investigators taking photographs inside the house as well as removing a number of items across the day, which have been taken away as evidence.
Earlier in the evening they paid particularly close attention to another bin in the backyard, taking some fingerprints.
Police used the same locksmith to access a second home in the same street.
9News understands the owners travelled overseas a few weeks ago.
The connection, if any, has not been disclosed.
One neighbour, Beatrice Betacui, described the situation as "terrible".
"You know, it's scary, because this street is very safe," she told 9News Melbourne.
"It's very quiet, because most of the people here is old people."
Betacui said her neighbour was an older woman who lived alone and only moved into the property two months ago.
"She was a normal person to me," Betacui said.
Neighbours said the woman often had the lights on but no one had heard from her since June 23.
"Bit scary, but what can you do? I didn't know what happened," neighbour Steven Toseland said.
The woman has not been publicly identified, but will be when police receive post-mortem results.
Police believe the woman's body was inside a bin that was picked up outside a property in Coolaroo on Tuesday and taken to the facility in Epping.
Detectives won't confirm whether they have a suspect or how they believe the woman died.
However, officers are asking for those who live nearby to check their home security cameras for any suspicious activity.
