By-election news
This is a news collection page for by-elections. A by-election is an election that is held between general elections, where the incumbent, the previous person in office is no longer able to serve due to reasons such as ineligibility, resignation or death. An example of five by-elections being held on one Saturday on 28 July 2018, commonly referred to as 'Super Saturday' resulted from a change to section 44 relating to dual-citizenship, making four people in office becoming ineligible to serve. The five electorates involved in the by-election are Braddon in Tasmania, Longman in Queensland, Mayo in South Australia, and in Western Australia, Perth and Fremantle. 9News will provide the latest news and updates on a by-election as soon as it is available.
