Man tries to leave country after alleged sexual assault at Canberra nightclub

A man has tried to fly out of Sydney International Airport after he allegedly sexually assaulted a girl "several times" at a Canberra nightclub.
It's alleged the Irish national sexually assaulted the girl at a Bunda Street nightclub, and in Bible Lane in Canberra City between July 15 and 16.
"The girl attended hospital after the incident and underwent a forensic medical examination," ACT Police said in a statement.

The 25-year-old was arrested at the airport on Saturday before his departure.
He faced Paramatta Local Court yesterday and was granted extradition to the ACT.
The man is expected to face ACT Magistrates Court today, to face two counts of sexual intercourse without consent and attempted sexual intercourse without consent.
