Adelaide's newest five-star hotel, the flagship Marriott Hotel, has hosted a speed-dating-style mass recruitment day, attracting more than 800 hopeful candidates.
With the grand opening scheduled for just over a month away, the hotel is seeking to fill 130 positions.
Among the eager job seekers was Devanshi Gupta, who currently works at Adelaide Oval and dreams of working at a five-star hotel.
"I know Marriott is a big brand, and I think I'll grow a lot if I get an opportunity here, so I'm just hopeful," she said.
The hotel's general manager, Paul Gallop, revealed that it had initially considered expanding the candidate pool to 2000 but ultimately capped it at 850.
"We're looking at a three-stage interview process to get the very best," he said.
He said the Marriott is not just focusing on an applicant's skills and experience level.
"We can train people and bring them up to speed," Gallop said.
"So we'll take attitude over everything. If people have experience, then that just gives them some more ticks."
The 15-storey hotel tower, which is Adelaide's first Marriott, stands behind the historic General Post Office Building on King William Street.
With finishing touches nearing completion, the hotel's management is now prioritising recruiting suitable staff before its scheduled opening in mid-August.
