A man has been bitten by a shark near Coral Bay, north of Perth.
He was bitten about 11.30am while spearfishing at 14 Mile Beach.
He was in a stable condition tonight, but 9News understands he will be transported by the Royal Flying Doctor's Service to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for treatment.
Authorities had issued a shark warning earlier today after a whale carcass was spotted floating about 60 kilometres north.
An investigation is under way into what species of shark was involved.
A member of the public reported seeing a shark just five metres from shore at the same spot about 20 minutes after the man was attacked.
It is the seventh reported shark incident in Western Australia this year.
