A chemical explosion has sparked a massive factory fire in an industrial area of Derrimut in Melbourne's west.
More than 50 fire trucks have rushed to battle the out-of-control blaze.
The fire is sending plumes of toxic black smoke stretching for kilometres over Melbourne's west.
The toxic fumes can be seen rising high into the air over Derrimut before spreading out across nearby suburbs.
Residents in the following suburbs have been told to shelter inside immediately: Albion, Braybrook, Brooklyn, Derrimut, Laverton North, Sunshine, Sunshine West, Tottenham and Truganina.

Emergency services were first notified of the blaze at 11.20am today.
There have so far been no reports of injuries and it's believed that everyone inside evacuated safely.

Nearby residents were advised to shelter indoors immediately, close all exterior doors and windows, close vents and ensure heating and cooling systems are turned off.
