Snow expected to drop in multiple states as polar air mass hits

Winter is well and truly on the doorstep with a polar air mass set to drop snow on multiple states over the coming hours.
Weatherzone has forecast snow today and tomorrow in parts of New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, and the Australian Capital Territory, possible even reaching far NSW on Friday.

Showers and hail are also forecast in the affected areas.
The alpine regions are set for a nice dusting of snow, which could be a boost for the ski season.
Snow is forecast to fall as low as 600m above sea level in Tasmania, compared to 800m in Victoria and about 1km in southern and central NSW and the ACT.

Temperatures are likely to fall by four to six degrees below average, with the wind chill factor making it feel like 10 degrees below average.
Damaging winds are also forecast, with severe weather warnings issued in NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, and the ACT.
North-westerly gusts of up to 90km/hr are expected, perhaps reaching 125km/hr.

Sydney today is set for clear skies, with temperatures ranging from seven degrees to 23 degrees.
In Melbourne it will be windy and rainy, ranging from 11 to 16 degrees.
Hobart will see showers, with temperatures from 13 degrees to 17 degrees.
After a morning frost, Canberra will be sunny, ranging from zero degrees to a top of 16.
