Two accused teen thieves had nowhere to hide after allegedly stealing a scooter equipped with a hidden tracking device in Adelaide.
Police said a teenage girl and her male co-accused stole the bike from Frome Road in the city just before 6pm last night, but their getaway was doomed from the start thanks to an Apple Airtag.
The scooter's owner tracked the scooter to Main North Road at Parafield and then through the backstreets of Pooraka.
They provided live updates to police, who swooped in and arrested the teen duo at Duffield Drive.
Police said during their bungled escape, they also led officers to two other allegedly stolen motorbikes inside a home on nearby Sandow Avenue.
A 37-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with theft.
Tech experts said electronic tracking tags could be invaluable, particularly when criminals broke through old-school methods of security.
"It will tell you where everything you've got is, put an Airtag on it, you can always locate it with your iPhone," expert Richard Pascoe said.
Samsung and Android phones also have their own versions of Airtags.
