Woman allegedly assaulted by man holding scissors in Brisbane

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a woman while holding scissors in South Brisbane overnight.
Police allege the 25-year-old man approached a 58-year-old woman at a community hall on Cordelia Street about 9pm.
Officers believe the man started a conversation with the woman before allegedly assaulting the woman while holding a pair of scissors.
Police said the woman suffered non-life-threatening wounds to her head and face and was rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.
The 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
He has since been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, wilful damage and contravening the direction of a police officer.
The man will appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
