A 27-year-old truck driver has been charged with a string of dangerous driving offences after a cross-border police chase in Queensland yesterday afternoon.
A police helicopter monitored the truck as it travelled from the Gold Coast towards Logan after it entered the state from the New South Wales border at about 1.15pm.
Police allege the truck swerved and damaged multiple vehicles as it drove along the Pacific Motorway.
A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed just before 1.30pm on the M1 at Currumbin Waters.
The truck allegedly drove in the wrong direction along the motorway before coming to a stop near Yatala a short time later.
Police in NSW allegedly tried to pull over the driver but the vehicle drove towards Queensland.
"His motivation for avoiding the NSW Police initially is unknown," Queensland Police's Brendan Wiblen said.
The 27-year-old man allegedly fled the scene on foot after leaving the truck, and was arrested nearby.
He has since been charged with multiple offences including drink driving, willful damage, and driving without a licence.
He was remanded in custody and will appear in court today.
