A resident's sly practice to reserve a parking spot has sparked division among locals in Sydney's inner west.
The neighbour has been accused of placing traffic cones along a street in Leichhardt, locking some residents out of a spot for months on end.
One resident took to their local Facebook group to vent their frustration about the act.
"It's been ongoing for months and doesn't look renovation-related," they said.
"The street has no hourly restrictions and (like most of Leichhardt) not enough parking spots."
Community members were divided over the practice, with some labelling it as "selfish".
Which one of these cars in in the wrong?
Others argued the person reserving the spots could be elderly or have mobility issues and that the issue could easily be resolved with a simple conversation.
According to the Inner West Council leaving belongings such as a traffic cone in a public area is considered "obstruction".
Penalties for obstructing public use of amenities can attract fines between $330 to $660.
The Inner West Council encourages anyone who comes across this kind of act to report it for investigation.
