A popular car festival in Canberra has descended into disarray amid a string of fights between patrons and security guards caught on camera.
Summernats organisers said they were investigating, after fans were filmed apparently being bashed, beaten and kicked by guards employed to keep them safe.
Punches appeared to be thrown from both sides throughout several smaller skirmishes at the Canberra event.
In one video, crowd safety staff chase down a patron, throw him against the wall and a security guard appears to kick him in the head while he is on the ground.
One security guard features in several clips taken by punters, appearing to throw plenty of punches.
"F--- you, I'll kill you man," he can be heard saying in one video
Two patrons were arrested for unrelated incidents, and the crowd controllers were questioned before their supervisor packed some of them onto a bus and ordered them to leave.
"Summernats and security contractor Red Dawn have already begun an investigation into the incident involving security staff and patrons on Saturday afternoon," the festival organisers said in a statement.
"Summernats and Red Dawn take their responsibilities for the safety and security of everyone at the event very seriously.
"The investigation will be given the highest priority, with outcomes shared and all learnings implemented."
Police were investigating and out in force on the final day of the festival.
