It's been 10 years since Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto V.
In that decade, the anarchy-filled open-world game redefined what success looks like in the entertainment industry.
The often-controversial game made more than $US8 billion ($12.5 billion), the publisher has just teased a sequel, with a trailer to come next month.
"We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto," Rockstar Games wrote in a statement on its website.
The yet unnamed title comes as the publisher, originally of Scottish origins, marks its 25-year anniversary.
Rockstar president Sam Houser said the company was "founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment".
The scale of the game's financial success is hard to exaggerate.
Within 24 hours of its release, Grand Theft Auto V generated more than $US815 million ($1.27 billion) in worldwide revenue, according to Reuters.
Three days after its release, the game surpassed $US1 billion ($1.56 billion) in sales, making it the fastest-selling entertainment product in history.
Some figures estimate the game had passed $US8 billion in revenue in September 2023.
Sales on the violent action game dwarf the top box office figures of the world.
Veteran director James Cameron's Avatar franchise grossed $2.9 and $2.3 billion for the first and second films respectively. His cultural landmark Titanic made a cool $2.2 billion.
Marvel's Avengers: Endgame made $US2.7 billion ($4.22 billion) when all was said and done.
Details on the new Grand Theft Auto title are scarce, but will become clearer when the sequel's trailer is released in December.
